Picking The Right Bike!

We have seen a change in transportation recently. Cars were the king of the road, however we can now see a growing trend in the popularity of cycling as a main method of transport. It could be down to efforts to remain green, perhaps people want to save money on high gas prices, or maybe many people just want to get in shape! Whatever the reason, there are more cyclists on the road than ever. Have you been tempted to use a bike for your everyday transport needs? If this is the case it is important you know what to look for, the following tips will help you in your quest to find a suitable bike.

Fashion really does get involved when you make a choice. Our preferences are reflected in color and style choices. When choosing your bike you shouldn't ignore them. Obviously, the style and fashion elements of the bicycle should not be your top priority (unless the bicycle is just for show). You really need to look at safety and comfort issues before any others. After finding bikes that are both safe and comfy, then you can see which ones look the best to you. You shouldn't keep the bicycle seat my sources at the lowest setting, either. Be sure to consider these few necessary inches between the seat and the crossbar, when you are out bicycle shopping. You want to have the comfort of the seat being higher up than the crossbar on the bike, because if the seat is sitting on the crossbar, you will not be comfortable. The goal here is to create a height with your seat so that when your pedal is at its lowest position your leg should be almost (but not quite) fully extended.

The number of gears you’ll use will also affect your choice. If you plan to ride in rocky or mountainous areas, you’ll need more gears than riding on flat land. You can’t evaluate the bike only by the number of gears it has. You may never have cause to use all the gears. Why spend extra money paying for something that you don’t need? Ensure you have enough gears to handle the situations in which you will be riding, especially if you bike will be your main mode of transport.

When purchasing a bicycle, you have tons to consider. While you shop, you must make decisions from safety issues to fashion concerns. It’s perfectly normal for you to feel a little overwhelmed and perhaps a little perplexed when starting out. You can rest assured that by doing minimal research into your options, you’ll make the perfect decision for you.

Look up some of your choices before you hit the store. The peace it will offer during shopping makes it very worthwhile.
